just like this quick break between rainstorms, the diabetes online community is my “blue sky” between the highs and lows of diabetes. i saw these words, and it is what i ask for 2008 for all of my D-OC friends. better days.

And you ask me what i want this year
and i try to make this good and clear
just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days

cause i don’t need boxes wrapped in strings
and designer love and empty things,
just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days

so take these words
and sing out loud
cause everyone is forgiven now
cause tonight’s the night the world begins again

and its someplace simple where we could live
and something only you can give
and let’s faith and trust and peace while we’re alive

and the one poor child who saved this world
and there’s 10 million more who probably could
if we all just stopped and said a prayer for them

so take these words
and sing out loud
cause everyone is forgiven now
cause tonight’s the night the world begins again

i wish everyone was loved tonight
and somehow stop this endless fight
just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days

so take these words
and sing out loud
cause everyone is forgiven now
cause tonight’s the night the world begins again

cause tonight’s the night the world begins again

i have been dealing with a few days of depression. mostly due to the fact of reflection on the past year and trying to make resolutions for the new year. my disbelief in getting this disease. all due to the fact that if i had only gone to the hospital sooner for my gallbladder, i would have never gotten the bile duct obstruction, which would never have caused the pancreatitis and on and on. NOT FAIR! not bad enough i’ve got Stage 3 CKD, but now i have to deal with this. and i’m not Type 2, i’m frigging Type 1. NOT FAIR! i wish i could get the world to begin again and not deal with this. <sigh>

taking care of your feet is extremely important with diabetes. everytime i put on socks, i make sure that my feet are heavily lotioned up, so that they don’t get all dry and itchy and then open to getting sores.

my opthamologist has been taking care of my eyes for many years. I had strabismus surgery in 1993. He now is watching me for diabetes retinopathy, and saw no signs at my visit! one dang good thing to chalk up for in 2008!

 day69.jpg

well i couldn’t see a dang thing with my eyes all dialated. good thing it was night when i finished my eye appointment. no signs of retinopathy!

i couldn’t believe holly took this, and i look like a dang BUG! i couldn’t see in front of my face, everything was a big blur for 4 hours!

day 66 - 12/31/07 - GOOD RIDDANCE!

luckily with 20 people drinking and only 2 bottles we only got a “toast’s” worth! Here’s to 2008! cuz 2007 SUCKED THE BIG ONE!

i’ve been depressed for a couple of days as i looked back onto 2007. i hated this year. 2007 was the year of a whole new disease. one i could definitely have done without.

the only good thing about 2007 was all of you! all of my new friends. without each and every one of you, i don’t know where i would be right now.

so, raise a glass and say, “Here’s to 2008!”

i had the biggest laugh getting this wonderful postcard from Amylia. it is the FIRST piece of mail i’ve ever gotten with my whole dang name on it! poor mailman must have wondered who all those people were that this was addressed to!

Isn’t the D-OC amazing though? that you can have relationships with people all the way across the world?!? TOTALLY AMAZING!

holly and i went to the newest Walmart super store. i have avoided McD’s since Dx in July. But they HAD to have one in the dang store! i was overwhelmed. So, i dug out my trusty Calorie King Carb counter and bolused 8 units. OH MAN IT WAS SO FRIGGING WORTH IT! i can’t even begin to tell you how it made me feel all warm and good inside. i promise to be good most of the time, but this truly was a treat!

diabetes makes me sometimes feel as if i’m driving on a lonely road in the fog. i think of places such as Diabetes365/TuDiabetes.com/DiabetesDaily as my GPS that keeps me on the right path.

you gotta love a secure man who will wear big fluffly lion slippers just because his little girl bought them for him for Christmas. having my husband home for Christmas helped my emotional stability for the holiday season

day62.jpg

neither holly nor myself have taken off our gorgeous Monsoon Artisans necklaces.

they have brought such joy.
1. because a new friend made them.
2. because my daughter loved that it was created especially for her.
3.that diabetes could bring this all together.

i didn’t take this picture, actually beth did! i tried very very hard to capture these necklaces with my camera, but nothing came out as good as the ones she took and sent to me.

you may remember me talking about them here:  day 46.

the necklace on the left is mine and has my birthdate and Dx date, the one on the right is my daughter Holly’s.

they are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and i’m so happy! thank you Beth!
