THANK YOU LILI! i’ve been wanting a NovoJunior Pen! now i can do half units! my pharmacy doesn’t have this available and if i can’t get it through Kaiser’s pharmacy i can’t get it. Thanks to Lili (who couldn’t use this) it has found a new and happy home! Isn’t the D-OC WONDERFUL?!?

my first thought when seeing this vehicle in front of me: this man is CRAZY! what a huge misconception! we were both going to Kaiser-Permanente, and the man was just as normal as can be.

People with diabetes also have misconceptions. That they are fragile, or can’t eat what every one else is eating, or that they’ll get every complication. NOT TRUE!

one of the biggest diabetes misconceptions is you can’t eat fast food. This meal consumed all of 11 carbs! a double meat burger with mustard and grilled onions, protein style and a large diet coke. In-N-Out Burger is the diabetics best friend!

this is my holly. being totally over dramatic as 17 year old girls can be. she also has sensory integration disorder and today was a day of total shutdown. we haven’t had one in quite awhile. yet, i don’t let that get me down. it’s just another day.

one good thing about it. i didn’t think about diabetes all day long as i seem to have done lately. it was just what it is. sometimes all of the other things take precidence over diabetes.

 BETH ASKED ME: “What is Sensory Integration Disorder?”

As it pertains to Holly, i found this on Wikipedia:

Sensory Integration Dysfunction (SID, also called sensory processing disorder) is a neurological disorder causing difficulties with processing information from the five classic senses (vision, auditory, touch, olfaction, and taste), the sense of movement (vestibular system), and/or the positional sense (proprioception).

For those with SID, sensory information is sensed normally, but perceived abnormally. This is not the same as blindness or deafness, because, unlike those disorders, sensory information is sensed by people with SID, but the information tends to be analyzed by the brain in an unusual way that may cause distress or confusion.

 Sensory integration disorders vary between individuals in their characteristics and intensity. Some people are so mildly afflicted, the disorder is barely noticeable, while others are so impaired they have trouble with daily functioning.

Children can be born hypersensitive or hyposensitive to varying degrees and may have trouble in one sensory modality, a few, or all of them. Hypersensitivity is also known as sensory defensiveness. Examples of hypersensitivity include feeling pain from clothing rubbing against skin, an inability to tolerate normal lighting in a room, a dislike of being touched (especially light touch) and discomfort when one looks directly into the eyes of another person.

 Holly is Hypersensitive.

my phone. it has bested me. the one thing i wanted to do this weekend was to talk to one of my D-friends. dang phone decided to not be cooperative! phone tag has been our game.

but i didn’t allow it to raise my blood sugars, i just went along with it. for now. DANG PHONE!

this is my belle. she’s extremely sweet, but a little dim. i always says she’s got a little judy holliday in her. she doesn’t give a damn about diabetes, just that mama has her food in her dish at dinner time. just loving and petting her, i don’t think about diabetes at all.

i was doing a BG test right before going to bed on top of my clean nightgown and comforter. can you see what is wrong with this picture? i’ve never had that happen!
